What is coaching anyway?
A life coach is a professional who helps people feel better, gain confidence, achieve goals and identify obstacles in life. A coach is not someone who gives advice or spends hours talking about childhood traumas. A good coach will ask powerful questions, help the client navigate through their thoughts and words, read their body language and help them see new perspectives.
A life coach will focus on the solutions instead of problems and will target the individuals skills, talents and unique qualities.
Is therapy and coaching the same thing?
Big, loud no. Generally speaking, coaching is more focused on reaching some kind of goal, aiming for creating a solution so it's very solution oriented with clear steps and future plans. Therapy is more problem focused and will usually involve lots of past and childhood sessions. Therapy will aim for healing from past traumas while coaching is aiming for where we want to be in the future. For mental health problems you should seek therapy. If you feel like you don't need healing from your past or don't suffer from any mental health problems or disorders and you want to set a plan for the future, a coach is for you.
Who needs a coach?
Whatever you're stuck on in life, a coach will help you find solutions and turn challenges into opportunities.
